There are many ways to live a healthy lifestyle.  One is to try to include as many “superfoods” in your diet as possible.
A superfood is a nutrient rich food with high levels of phytochemicals. A phytochemical is a naturally occurring chemical, usually recognized in the coloring of certain fruits and vegetables.  These amazing phytochemicals have been known to decrease the risk of cancer and heart disease.  Are you getting enough of these in your diet?
  • Apples
  • Blueberries
  • chia seeds
  • Cabbage
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Red wine
  • Avocados
  • Pomegranates
  • Eggs
  • Almonds
  • Mushrooms
  • Garlic
  • Fish and fish oil
As with many other health discussions, this list can be varied.  I have also noted that some people consider whole grain and beans to be on this list.  Eating Paleo, I do not consider these in my arsenal, however, you may.  For me, I already enjoy several of these foods quite frequently.  These are just my suggestions based on what I’ve read.  I can tell you it’s not hard to get behind the inclusion of red wine and dark chocolate in my diet.  I think that I must’ve been ahead of the curve on that one.
Try to include as many of these foods into your diet (moderation on the vino) and they can have amazing benefits.  From anti-inflammatory properties to immune boosting benefit, have your eaten your superfoods today?
