Paleo Sauteed Halibut with Caper relish

I’m baaack!  I’ve been chomping at the bit to try a new recipe and bring you some more food porn.  I’m chickened out for a minute and I’ve eaten more red meat than I care to for awhile.  I’m also pretty tired from being up a lot with the new puppy last night.  Still, I managed to get up on the early side and get a 12 minute workout in.  I haven’t sat down all day and now I’m ready to crash and burn.  But before I do…
Check this out…I was awakened around 2:30 am to a sad whimpering lil cry.  I went in to see a nice steamy hot pile right next to him on his bed.  Nice, right?  I wasn’t thinking so after already getting up twice at this point.  So I took him outside where I placed him in the grass to clean up his mess.  In a matter of seconds, he is eating something I presume is a leaf.  I pick him up and there is a foot or leg of something I’m still not quite sure about, hanging from his mouth.  We have quite a few rabbits in our yard so though it may have been a dead rabbit, it may also have been a bird.
To add to the visual, I must tell you my landscapers appear to have run over it with their mower.  I’m totally freaking out and panicked since he’s so little and I’m not sure what illness he can get from being in contact and possibly ingesting this thing.  I was so grossed out by this adorable little thing that I wouldn’t let him kiss me.  That’s already worn off though:)
First thing this morning I was on the phone with the vet.  I’m like a new mom all over again.  They just said to watch him for a parasite, so that’s the deal.  I’m sure the first of many stories.
Here’s a cute video of him this morning wigging out in the mirror.  It kind of made me sad to think he thinks he sees a brother of his.  Nope Phoenix, just your reflection.
Now let’s resume this tasty recipe, shall we?  I discovered this with the few ingredients I had on hand and decided to try it.  Nothing to loose, right?
You will need 2-3 Halibut filets
For relish:
1 4 oz. jar of nonpareil capers
1 medium sized onion or a few shallots
1 tsp parsley
1 tsp basil
2 garlic cloves
1-2 tbsp olive oil
juice from half of a lemon
salt
pepper
caper relish
Start by salt and peppering the filets on both sides.  On medium heat, sauté for 2-3 minutes each side in a pan.  When cooked, spoon on a heaping scoop of this tasty relish.  I made the relish by rough chopping or pulsing in a food processor the above ingredients.
Serve with a side of your favorite veggie and you have a healthy and quick meal.  If only my kids would eat this, I would be elated.  Instead, they will be having orange chicken.  Oh well, one day…
