I’ve been considering where I’m headed this year with regards to competition and it appears I’ve made a clear decision for my 2013 path.  I’m a natural born planner and I really need to see things laid out for me so I can visualize what will need to happen to get me there.  It is especially essential because I have 3 kids and they have spring and summer breaks to consider.  I have been really concerned with exactly where and when this would fit in for me and my family so I’m not bumming everyone out on our vacations.  That is the sacrifice that comes with all of this and must be weighed.

Last year, on our fall break vacation, I woke up at 4:30 am and went to a nearby gym to train before anyone was awake and then I went back when they were winding down for the night.  It was very important to me that I didn’t eat into our time together.  It was pretty exhausting, but that was the choice I made.  I truly don’t want my children to feel that its always about me.  The lifestyle is rough, but if you are serious you can make it work. I’d give anything some days for an extra few hours in my day.  It’s about making time for things that are important to you.

I’m happy to say, I’ve made my decision and look forward to going full throttle once again. Fist pump!  I will be competing in May at the NPC Pittsburgh and then headed to the Junior USA’s soon after. I couldn’t be more excited to step on that stage again and prove to myself that I can achieve things I never thought possible.  When you release what you think you should be and allow yourself to be who you really are, only then can you find true happiness.  We all have unique and special qualities and I’ve learned to go after my interests and talents and let go of what I’m not good at.  It has been a growing experience to get to this place, but I’m ever grateful for the ability to allow new things into my life.

Did I mention how excited I am to appear in the February issue of Oxygen Magazine?
