Getting what you’ve got…

Do you ever wonder why things just don’t go your way?  Do you feel like you are on a treadmill? The trapped kind, not the one where you’re just catching a great cardio session.  Have you ever stopped to question why this may be?

Often times, taking a long hard long at yourself in the mirror can bring you the answer to these questions. YOU are the reason. You are the reason for everything that occurs in your life.  The way in which you think, feel and handle a situation is likely bringing more of the same to you.  One of my favorite quotes that is ever present in the forefront of my mind…”If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten”-Anthony Robbins

If things are just not going my way, I know I am putting negative thoughts out into the universe.  Many times I am not even aware of doing so. I realize I must be thinking in a way that is not conducive for what I want in return. If you are not conscious of the signals you are sending, you better start paying attention. You are essentially placing an order when you have a bad attitude and will only create more of the same for yourself.

It’s simply the Law of Attraction at work. Whether you are constantly reading, working on yourself, improving upon your current situation or conversely, complaining, nagging or worrying, you are ordering up more of the same.  I notice when I read and consume good, positive material, it changes my whole perspective.  It’s definitely easier to have a negative thought over a positive one which is why you need to pay attention to how you are feeling.  If you are feeling happy, you are putting out good vibes.  On the other hand, if you are grumpy and feeling down, you are asking for “more of the same please.”

A good rule of thumb is to try to get 15 minutes of reading in a day.  It’s not much of your day which is why anyone can do it.  Whether it’s first thing in the morning or your last 15 minutes before drifting off at night, you are giving yourself little bits of encouragement which will help train your brain to take the path of optimism.  Little affirmations to fuel the tank will help you go far.  If ever I don’t do these things and get lazy, I feel a difference in my thinking and my attitude.  I become grumpier with my kids and things just don’t roll of my back as they should.
If you ever have a day where you’ve lost your keys, your car won’t start, you forgot to pick up something before you left the house, just slow down and change the direction of your thoughts.  You are sending out negative vibrations is some way, in turn returning you what you’ve asked for. Here’s a list of a few great books if you need a bit of encouragement.  Let’s face it, we all need encouragement from time to time.
Here’s a few great reads to get you on track and help keep you there:
The Secret: Rhonda Byrne
Jack Canfield: Key to Living the Law of Attraction: A Simple Guide to Creating the Life of Your Dreams
Jim Rohn: The Season of Life

You see, you really can have it all.  If you want something badly enough you can will it.  You have to be willing to do what it takes to get it though.  I feel lucky in my life to have come across someone that has taught me to want more from myself.  To never give up and never, ever settle.  I have had a hard time picking this up initially.  As a stubborn, bull-headed girl that once had a terrible temper and even worse attitude, it’s been a learning curve for me to say the least.  Implementing self development has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done for myself and likely for those closest to me as well.

It is said that nothing worthwhile is ever easy.  You must follow the path to your goal and dreams and chase them down.  Always aspire to learn and grow and you will get there.  Don’t just sit back and let life pass you by.  Take the reigns and drive it!
