I awakened this morning to a light rain. I’m pretty sure nothing smells better. If you know anything about Arizona weather, you know that it’s seldom we get rain except during monsoon season. During these months, it can be sweltering hot when suddenly the sky will open up and a massive down pour will erupt with lightening and thunder all around. Streets will flood in a matter of minutes.

Being a Florida girl, I grew up with rain and lots of it. Here in the desert, I savor it because we get it so rarely. Goes to show you, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone! It’ll be a nice relief from the triple digits we’ve been experiencing. Today’s high will only be 93.

We’ll be spending the afternoon with family and friends and it’s only natural that today will revolve around food. I will be preparing a healthy option, a Paleo cole slaw that has a nice kick to it.

I hope you enjoy your day and don’t overindulge too much in the spirit of it. But, if you do, there’s always tomorrow to grab the reigns and get back on track. So don’t beat yourself up too much. Try to eat lots of protein, veggies and fruit to keep it under control. That’s my plan and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Live healthy,
