As recently published in MET-Rx Magazine for Spring 2014, here are some simple add ons to your workout to help strengthen your core. Throw one or two of these into your workout in between sets to tighten your tummy for bikini season.
Core Workout Secrets
Often times, people neglect to train their core because they simply forget or it is left until the end of the workout when they’ve already run out of steam. Because a solid core is the foundation for every movement you perform both in the gym and in daily life, you should Absolutely make it a priority. Pun intended!
Here are some core exercises I incorporate in between sets to maximize my downtime and make the most of my core. These are a great addition to any workout because it will keep your heart rate elevated and burn more fat than resting in between sets. Keep in mind that a sexy six-pack is not earned without eating a healthy diet at least 80% of the time.
Perform any or all of the following core exercises in between sets of other muscle groups at least three times per week for best results.
- Mountain climbers
- Decline sit-ups
- Hanging leg raises
- Suspension trainer (TRX) pikes
- Barbell ab rollouts
